Dr. Brian Berg currently serves as the Vehicle Communications Architect at Polaris Industries, where he's in charge of the design, platforming and roadmapping of the system/network architecture on all Polaris Powersports vehicles, including Indian Motorcycle, Slingshot autocycles, Ranger and RZR side-by-sides, snowmobiles, etc. While many of the same qualities of software-defined vehicle and E/E architecture are common between powersports vehicles and automobiles, there are also several unique differences that impact architectural design that Dr. Berg is currently involved with.

Dr. Brian Berg has been a leader in product R&D for over 25 years in various technology organizations; including Bell Communications Research, Hewlett Packard, and DTS (XPeri). As an authority in coding, communications and signal processing (statistical modeling, compression, streaming - Multimedia, AI, HMI), Dr. Berg has led the development of successful products in multiple industries - from consumer electronics to internet/mobile; entertainment to automotive - involved in all levels of development from directing teams to hands-on development with multiple languages and platforms.

Dr. Berg graduated as a Bradley Fellow from Virginia Polytechnic and State University's Electrical Engineering program with a PhD, and received his Master's and Bachelor’s degrees from North Dakota State University. Dr. Berg's extensive professional, education and personal experience in innovation allows him to apply the best of technology solutions from one industry into new products in other industries. For example 20 years ago he was involved in the software-defined radio (SDR) transformation of cell phones to smart phones. Today he has the privilege of applying that experience to the new Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) transformation currently happening in the vehicular industry.
