In Jan. 2022, Vijay Rao was named director of Connected Operations and Owner Apps/Websites for Hyundai Motor North America. Rao’s organization is responsible for the following key areas:

• Connected Car and Associated Owner Experience
• Features and Services Planning
• Monetization
• Use of Connected Car Capabilities and Data
• Business Architecture Development

Rao previously served in a similar capacity for Hyundai Motor America from 2017 – 2022 as the senior group manager of connected car and owner apps and as the senior group manager of digital business and connected operations.

Prior to his time at Hyundai, he held managerial roles at Toyota Financial Services for eight years. Before his time at Toyota, he was an enterprise architect at Key Bank, contact center architect at BMW Financial Services and an engineer at Qwest Communications and Applied Power Inc.

He received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Bangalore University and his Master of Mechanical Engineering degree from Ohio University.
